“Today we sit down with Gayle Washington — healer, entrepreneur, and the visionary behind one of New Hampshire’s most comprehensive wellness destinations. What follows is a candid, far-reaching conversation about the modalities, the science, and the heart behind Ohm Lifestyle Center.“
OPENING
Welcome & Introduction
HOST ALEX: Gayle, welcome to the show. For listeners who haven’t heard of Ohm Lifestyle Center, can you give us the thirty-second pitch — what is Ohm, and what makes it different?
GAYLE: Thank you so much for having me! Ohm Lifestyle Center is a full-service wellness spa in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. We offer everything from deeply therapeutic massage to body contouring, float therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, cryotherapy, advanced facials, and aesthetic treatments. What makes us different is that we don’t operate as a day spa where relaxation is the only goal — every single service we offer has clinical intention behind it. We’re here to help people feel better, move better, and live better.
HOST ALEX: “You’ve been doing clinical bodywork for over 21 years. What drove you to eventually build your own center rather than simply practicing within someone else’s space?“
GAYLE: Honestly, I needed the freedom to build something holistic. When you’re renting a room or working under another brand, you can offer one or two things. I wanted a place where a client could walk in with chronic back pain and leave having experienced massage, cryotherapy, and HBOT in the same visit — with a plan that actually addresses their whole body. That vision required ownership.
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT
38 Senses Massage
HOST ALEX: “Let’s start with something that caught my eye on your menu — the 38 Senses Massage. That name is intriguing. Can you tell us what that actually is?“
GAYLE: The 38 Senses Massage is a fully immersive, multisensory experience. The name comes from the idea that the human body has far more than the classic five senses — researchers have identified dozens of sensory systems, including proprioception, interoception, thermoception, and more. This massage is designed to engage as many of those systems as possible. We use varying textures, temperatures, sound, scent, and intentional pressure patterns to create a deeply restorative neurological reset.
HOST ALEX: “Who is this massage best suited for? Is it purely for relaxation, or does it serve a therapeutic purpose as well?“
GAYLE: Both, genuinely. For someone dealing with high stress, anxiety, or sensory overstimulation from a demanding lifestyle, it’s profoundly regulating — it essentially recalibrates the nervous system. But for clients recovering from trauma, chronic fatigue, or even post-COVID neurological symptoms, the multisensory engagement can reawaken pathways that have gone quiet. It’s one of those modalities where the client walks in thinking they’re getting a massage and walks out realizing something deeper happened.
HOST ALEX: “For a first-timer considering booking a 38 Senses session — what should they expect, and how should they prepare?“
GAYLE: Come hydrated, and come with an open mind. The session begins with a brief intake to understand your sensory sensitivities — some people are overwhelmed by certain scents, for example, and we customize accordingly. The treatment room is set intentionally: lighting, sound, even the temperature of the linens are prepared before you arrive. My biggest advice? Don’t rush out afterward. Give yourself fifteen minutes to just sit and absorb. The integration period is part of the therapy.

SRT Massage (Spondylogenic Reflex Therapy)
HOST ALEX: “SRT — Spondylogenic Reflex Therapy. That’s a term most people have never encountered. Break it down for us.“
GAYLE: Spondylogenic Reflex Therapy is a specialized manual therapy rooted in the understanding that the spine is the master control center for the entire body. “Spondylogenic” refers to originating from the spine or vertebrae. The premise is that dysfunction or restriction at specific spinal segments creates predictable reflex patterns throughout the body — affecting organs, muscles, and tissues in ways that seem completely unrelated to the spine itself. SRT works by identifying and releasing those spinal restrictions to interrupt the reflex arc and restore normal function. It’s deeply clinical and incredibly effective for complex, chronic presentations.
HOST ALEX: “How does Spondylogenic Reflex Therapy differ from chiropractic care, which also focuses on the spine?“
GAYLE: A great distinction to make. Chiropractic care primarily uses high-velocity adjustments to restore joint motion and alignment. SRT is a soft-tissue approach — we’re working with the musculature, connective tissue, and neurological reflex pathways around the spine, not the joints themselves. There’s no cracking or manipulation. Instead, we use sustained, precise manual pressure at specific spinal levels to down-regulate the reflex patterns firing in the nervous system. Many clients do beautifully with both — chiropractic for the structural component and SRT for the soft tissue and neurological layer. They complement each other well.
HOST ALEX: “Who is the ideal candidate for SRT, and what kinds of complaints bring people through the door looking for this treatment?“
GAYLE: People who come to SRT have often been everywhere — they’ve done PT, chiropractic, standard massage, sometimes even injections — and they’re still hurting. The ideal candidate is someone with chronic, diffuse pain that doesn’t have a clear structural explanation, or someone whose pain keeps migrating or seems to respond temporarily to other treatments but never fully resolves. Disc issues, chronic low back pain, sciatica, and even referred visceral pain patterns respond very well. What SRT addresses is often the missing piece — the neurological reflex component — that other modalities simply aren’t designed to reach.

Lomi Lomi Massage
HOST ALEX: “Lomi Lomi is a term many people have heard, but few fully understand. Can you give us the authentic story behind this Hawaiian practice?”
GAYLE: Lomi Lomi is a sacred healing art rooted in indigenous Hawaiian culture — specifically in the tradition of the kahuna, the healers who were trusted custodians of health and spiritual wellbeing within their communities. The word “lomi” simply means “to knead or rub,” but the practice is so much more than that. It’s based on the principle of aloha — unconditional love — and the belief that healing happens when love flows freely through the body, mind, and spirit. It’s a ceremony as much as a massage.
HOST ALEX: “What does a Lomi Lomi session actually look and feel like? It seems quite different from a standard Swedish massage.“
GAYLE: It’s profoundly different. The strokes are long, flowing, and continuous — often using the forearm as well as the hand, sweeping across the full length of the body in waves that mimic the motion of the ocean. The draping is minimal and intentional to allow those full-body strokes. There’s often breath work and a deeply meditative quality to the session. People frequently describe it as feeling like they’re being rocked, held, and unwound simultaneously. Emotional releases — tears, laughter, deep sighing — are completely normal and welcome.
HOST ALEX: “For someone who’s been through grief, loss, or significant life transition — would Lomi Lomi be a meaningful choice?“
GAYLE: Absolutely, and I would say it’s one of the most powerful modalities I offer for exactly that experience. Grief and trauma live in the body — not just in the mind. Lomi Lomi creates a safe, nurturing container where the body can release what it’s been holding. I’ve had clients on the table who haven’t cried in years finally let something go. It’s not therapy in the clinical sense, but it is profoundly healing. Many people gift Lomi Lomi to loved ones during difficult seasons for precisely that reason.

Himalayan Hot Stone Massage
HOST ALEX: “Most people know ‘hot stone massage,’ but you specifically use Himalayan stones. What’s the distinction, and does it actually matter?“
GAYLE: “It absolutely matters. Himalayan salt stones are fundamentally different from the basalt volcanic stones used in traditional hot stone massage. They’re harvested from ancient sea salt deposits in the Himalayan mountains, and they carry a mineral profile unlike anything else — over 84 trace minerals including magnesium, calcium, and potassium. When the stones are warmed and applied to the skin, those minerals are absorbed transdermally. You’re not just receiving heat therapy — you’re actually receiving mineral therapy simultaneously.”
HOST ALEX: “What do clients report experiencing during and after a session that surprises them most?“
GAYLE: Two things, consistently. First, the depth of relaxation surprises them — the combination of the heat penetrating deep into muscle tissue and the mineral absorption creates a sedative-like calm that’s unlike standard massage. Second, many clients report significantly better sleep the night of their session. The magnesium absorption is largely responsible for that. It’s one of those treatments where you feel great in the room, and then you feel even better the next morning.
HOST ALEX: “Are there any conditions where this treatment is especially recommended, or conversely, who should avoid it?“
GAYLE: It’s wonderful for people with chronic muscle tension, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and stress-related insomnia. The mineral-rich heat is deeply nourishing for tired, overworked bodies. As for contraindications — anyone with high blood pressure should let us know, as the heat can cause vasodilation. People with active skin conditions or open wounds in the treatment area would also want to discuss with us first. Pregnancy is another consideration — we have modified approaches, but I always want a conversation before booking. When in doubt, just call us.

NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT)
HOST ALEX: “NeuroKinetic Therapy — NKT — is something most of our listeners probably haven’t heard of. In plain language, what is it?“
GAYLE: NKT is a sophisticated manual therapy technique that addresses the root cause of pain and dysfunction — which is very often a neurological compensation pattern, not just a tight muscle. The motor control center in the brain creates these compensation patterns after injury or repetitive stress. One muscle becomes overworked because another has essentially been “switched off” by the brain. NKT uses precise muscle testing to identify which muscles are inhibited, then combines that with specific release and activation work to reprogram the motor control center itself.
HOST ALEX: “That sounds almost like physical therapy. How is NKT different from what someone might receive from a PT?“
GAYLE: There’s overlap, and I love collaborating with physical therapists — they’re great allies. The distinction is that PT tends to focus on strengthening and mobility exercises, while NKT is specifically targeting the neurological “software” — the brain’s compensation patterns that persist even after the original injury has healed. Many clients come to me after completing PT and still experiencing pain. Often, the muscles have been rehabilitated, but the compensation pattern is still running in the motor control center. NKT addresses that layer.
HOST ALEX: “Can you give us an example — a real-world scenario — of someone who would benefit dramatically from NKT?“
GAYLE: Classic example: a runner who had an ankle sprain two years ago. It healed, they went back to running, but they’ve had hip pain ever since. They’ve tried stretching, massage, even cortisone injections. What NKT often reveals is that when the ankle was sprained, the brain down-regulated the peroneal muscles on that side. The hip flexors then over-recruited to compensate, and they’ve been overworking — and screaming — ever since. Once we identify and reprogram that pattern, the hip pain often resolves without ever treating the hip directly.

Laser Lipo
HOST ALEX: “Laser Lipo — the name alone raises questions. Clarify this for us: is there any actual surgery involved?“
GAYLE: None whatsoever — and that’s the most important thing to understand. Laser Lipo at Ohm is entirely non-invasive. We use low-level laser energy delivered through paddles placed on the skin. That laser energy penetrates the fat cells and causes them to release their stored contents — triglycerides, water, and fatty acids — through the cell membrane. The cell essentially deflates without being destroyed. The released contents are then naturally metabolized and eliminated by the body through the lymphatic system. No needles, no anesthesia, no downtime.
HOST
ALEX
“
How many sessions does someone need to see visible results, and what should they do between sessions to maximize outcomes?
GAYLE
We typically recommend a series of six to twelve sessions for optimal results, and most clients begin noticing changes in measurements and how their clothes fit around sessions four to six. Between sessions, hydration is critical — you need to support the lymphatic elimination of those released lipids. We also strongly recommend light cardio within 24 hours of each session, because exercise activates the lymphatic system and accelerates how quickly the body clears out the released fat. Pairing Laser Lipo with our Endermologie treatments amplifies results significantly.
HOST
ALEX
“
Who is an ideal candidate, and are there people for whom this wouldn’t be a good fit?
GAYLE
Ideal candidates are adults who are relatively close to their goal weight and dealing with stubborn localized fat deposits — the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms — areas that simply don’t respond to diet and exercise the way they used to. Laser Lipo is not a weight loss tool for someone with significant weight to lose; it’s a body contouringtool. We ask about medical history, medications, and any implanted devices before booking, because certain conditions are contraindicated. The consultation is really the starting point for anyone curious.
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT
Neveskin
HOST
ALEX
“
Neveskin is a name that’s starting to circulate in the wellness space. Tell our listeners what it is and why you brought it to Ohm.
GAYLE
Neveskin is a body treatment device that uses controlled cold therapy — cryotherapy — applied locally through wraps and targeted applicators to achieve body contouring, cellulite reduction, and skin tightening. It works by applying precise cold temperatures to the treatment area, which triggers a thermogenic response, breaks down fat cell membranes through a process similar to cryolipolysis, and stimulates collagen production. What I love about Neveskin is its versatility — we can treat the abdomen, thighs, arms, buttocks, even the décolletage.
HOST
ALEX
“
How does Neveskin compare to CoolSculpting, which many people may have heard of?
GAYLE
Great comparison to draw. CoolSculpting uses extreme cold to freeze and destroyfat cells, which are then eliminated over weeks to months. Neveskin uses a gentler, sustained cold application that contours through a combination of mechanisms — some fat cell disruption, significant skin tightening, and lymphatic drainage stimulation. Neveskin also has zero downtime and zero risk of the paradoxical fat hyperplasia that has been documented as a rare but real risk with CoolSculpting. It’s also considerably more comfortable during the treatment itself.
HOST
ALEX
“
What does the skin actually feel and look like after a Neveskin treatment?
GAYLE
Immediately after, the skin feels firm and noticeably tighter — clients often remark on this before they even leave the room. There’s often a flushed, rosy glow as circulation returns to the treated area. Over the following days, as inflammation subsides and the lymphatic system continues clearing, there’s a smoothing and lifting effect that continues to develop. With a series of treatments and consistent hydration, the cumulative skin tightening and contouring results are really impressive — especially for people who’ve been bothered by loose skin after weight changes.
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT
Endermologie
HOST
ALEX
“
Endermologie has actually been around for several decades, yet many people still haven’t experienced it. Give us the overview.
GAYLE
Endermologie was developed in France in the 1980s, originally as a rehabilitation tool for burn scar treatment, and researchers noticed a fascinating side effect — it was dramatically reducing cellulite and improving skin texture. It uses a specialized handpiece with motorized rollers and gentle suction to mechanically stimulate the connective tissue, fascia, and skin. This mechanical stimulation reactivates sleeping fat cells, boosts collagen and elastin synthesis, and dramatically improves lymphatic and vascular circulation. It’s the gold standard in cellulite reduction.
HOST
ALEX
“
Cellulite is something almost every woman deals with. Is Endermologie truly effective, or is it one of those treatments that oversells results?
GAYLE
I appreciate the directness — there’s a lot of snake oil in the aesthetic industry, and I understand the skepticism. What I can tell you is that Endermologie is one of the few body treatments with robust peer-reviewed clinical research behind it, and it is FDA-cleared specifically for temporary improvement in the appearance of cellulite. That said, I’m always honest with clients: cellulite is driven by genetics, hormones, and connective tissue structure — Endermologie doesn’t eliminate it permanently. It significantly improves it with a series of treatments, and maintenance sessions keep the results sustained. Realistic expectations are part of the conversation.
HOST
ALEX
“
Beyond aesthetics, are there wellness and recovery benefits to Endermologie that people might not expect?
GAYLE
Absolutely — and this is actually where it started, remember, in rehabilitation. The lymphatic stimulation alone is deeply beneficial for detoxification and immune support. Athletes use it for recovery from intense training because it reduces delayed onset muscle soreness and clears metabolic waste from tissues. People with fibromyalgia often find significant relief from the gentle mechanical stimulation of the fascia. And post-surgical clients — especially after liposuction or tummy tucks — use Endermologie to soften scar tissue and restore tissue mobility. It’s a genuinely therapeutic tool dressed in aesthetic packaging.

PRX Dermperfection
HOST
ALEX
“
PRX Dermperfection — this is described as a “no-peel chemical peel.” How does that even work, and who is it designed for?
GAYLE
It sounds like a contradiction, and that’s what makes it so innovative. PRX Dermperfection was developed in Italy and uses a proprietary formula of trichloroacetic acid at a high concentration, combined with hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid, in a ratio that triggers the deep bio-revitalizing benefits of a peel — stimulating fibroblasts, collagen, and elastin production deep in the dermis — without the surface exfoliation and peeling you’d normally expect. The skin doesn’t actually peel. It just transforms. It’s ideal for all skin types, including sensitive skin that can’t tolerate traditional chemical peels.
HOST
ALEX
“
What results can someone expect, and how quickly do they appear?
GAYLE
Results appear fast — that’s one of the most stunning things about PRX. Within 24 to 48 hours, clients notice a luminosity, firmness, and hydration to their skin that’s hard to describe if you haven’t experienced it. We’re talking visible improvement in fine lines, skin texture, tone evenness, and a tightening effect, particularly around the jaw and under the eyes. With a series of four to six treatments spaced two weeks apart, the collagen remodeling that happens deep in the dermis produces results that genuinely rival much more invasive procedures. And there’s zero downtime — people come in on their lunch break.
HOST
ALEX
“
For someone who’s been told they’re “not quite ready” for injectables or laser resurfacing — is PRX a meaningful alternative or just a consolation prize?
GAYLE
It is a genuine alternative — not a consolation prize at all. I’ve had clients who were quoted thousands of dollars for laser resurfacing series achieve comparable results with PRX at a fraction of the cost and zero recovery time. It’s also an excellent preparatory treatment before more invasive procedures, because it pre-conditions the skin. And for maintaining results after injectables or laser work, PRX extends the longevity of those investments significantly. In the aesthetic world, we’re increasingly moving toward strategic combination protocols, and PRX fits beautifully into that paradigm.
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT
HydraFacial
HOST
ALEX
“
HydraFacial is probably the most recognized name in medical aesthetics right now. For someone who’s heard the buzz but never booked one — what actually happens during a HydraFacial?
GAYLE
A HydraFacial is a patented three-step treatment using a specialized device with a vortex tip. Step one is cleansing and exfoliation — removing the dead skin cell layer and loosening debris in the pores. Step two is a gentle acid peel, typically glycolic and salicylic, to further loosen congestion. Step three is the extraction — and this is where HydraFacial is revolutionary — it uses a painless suction combined with a hydrating serum to extract impurities from pores without any of the discomfort of manual extractions. The final phase delivers customized serums — antioxidants, peptides, hyaluronic acid — deep into freshly cleared pores.
HOST
ALEX
“
Is HydraFacial appropriate for acne-prone skin, or does it risk making breakouts worse?
GAYLE
HydraFacial is actually excellent for acne-prone skin — arguably one of the best facial treatments for it. The vortex extraction is much gentler than manual extraction and significantly reduces the risk of spreading bacteria or causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We customize the serum selection for acne-prone clients — using formulations with salicylic acid, niacinamide, and zinc to regulate sebum and calm inflammation. Over a series of monthly treatments, many clients with chronic breakouts see dramatic improvement in their skin’s clarity and texture.
HOST
ALEX
“
How often should someone get a HydraFacial to maintain results, and is it something people can do year-round?
GAYLE
Monthly is the sweet spot for maintenance — it aligns beautifully with the skin’s natural cell turnover cycle of about 28 to 30 days. And yes, absolutely year-round. Unlike some peels that can increase sun sensitivity and are better suited to fall and winter, HydraFacial is safe in all seasons. We do adjust our serum choices seasonally — more emphasis on hydration and barrier support in winter, more antioxidant and brightening focus in summer. It’s one of those treatments I describe as a subscription for your skin — consistent, cumulative, and completely customizable.

Cryotherapy for Pain
HOST
ALEX
“
Cryotherapy for pain management — explain the science. Why does extreme cold help people who are hurting?
GAYLE
The core mechanism is vasoconstriction followed by a powerful vasodilatory rebound. When extreme cold is applied to a painful area, blood vessels constrict dramatically, which reduces blood flow, decreases nerve conduction velocity — essentially slowing the pain signal — and reduces local inflammation and swelling. When the cold is removed, the rebound vasodilation floods the area with fresh, oxygenated blood and anti-inflammatory cytokines. We also see a significant release of endorphins and norepinephrine, which are the body’s own powerful pain-modulating neurochemicals. It’s like a hard reset for the inflammatory process.
HOST
ALEX
“
What specific pain conditions respond best to cryo, and what have you seen personally in your clients at Ohm?
GAYLE
Arthritis — both osteo and rheumatoid — responds beautifully. Clients with arthritis who come in with significant morning stiffness often leave moving more freely than they have in years. Tendinopathies — tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis, rotator cuff issues — respond very well. Nerve pain including sciatica and peripheral neuropathy often gets meaningful relief. And post-surgical inflammation — once the surgical incision has healed — responds dramatically. Personally, one of the most moving cases I’ve had involved a client with chronic knee pain from an old sports injury who had been told she needed a replacement. After consistent cryo combined with massage and HBOT, she avoided surgery entirely.
HOST
ALEX
“
For someone who is skeptical — maybe they’ve tried ice packs and found them useless — why is professional spot cryotherapy different from what they can do at home?
GAYLE
The difference is enormous, and it comes down to temperature and penetration. A bag of ice might reach 32°F and barely penetrates below the skin’s surface. Our professional spot cryo system delivers targeted cold precisely and rapidly to the treatment area — and that cold penetrates to the tissue depth where the pathology actually lives. The speed of temperature change also matters neurologically. An ice pack applied slowly over minutes doesn’t create the same nerve-gating effect as rapid professional cooling. It’s genuinely a different physiological event. Clients who come in skeptical because of their ice pack experience are usually converts after their first session.

Low Level Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
HOST
ALEX
“
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy — most people associate this with treating divers or severe burn victims in hospital settings. How does Ohm’s version work, and who is it for in a wellness context?
GAYLE
Great context to set straight. You’re right that HBOT at high pressure is a medical procedure used in hospitals for conditions like carbon monoxide poisoning and non-healing wounds. What we offer is mild or low-level HBOT — typically 1.3 to 1.5 atmospheres of pressure, which is the pressure you’d experience about ten feet underwater — with elevated oxygen concentration. At that pressure, oxygen dissolves into the plasma and reaches tissues that red blood cells can’t access, including areas of reduced circulation, injured tissue, and inflamed joints. It’s safe, non-invasive, and profoundly effective for a wide range of wellness applications.
HOST
ALEX
“
What do clients actually feel during a session, and what benefits do they report over a series of treatments?
GAYLE
During the session — which lasts 60 to 90 minutes — most clients simply relax. The chamber is comfortable; you can read, listen to a podcast, or sleep. Some people feel a slight pressure in the ears during the compression phase, similar to what you feel on an airplane, which we walk you through how to equalize. After a session, clients frequently report a remarkable mental clarity — what some call a “brain fog lift.” Over a series, the benefits that accumulate include reduced systemic inflammation, faster tissue healing, improved sleep quality, enhanced immune function, and significant cognitive and neurological support, particularly valuable for people dealing with post-COVID symptoms or early cognitive decline.
HOST
ALEX
“
What is the current research landscape supporting mild HBOT, and how does Ohm position the therapy responsibly to clients?
GAYLE
The research is genuinely exciting, particularly out of Israel where several landmark studies have used mild HBOT protocols to demonstrate measurable improvements in PTSD, traumatic brain injury, fibromyalgia, and even reversal of some aging biomarkers at the cellular level. There are also robust studies on athletic recovery and neuroplasticity support. How do we position it responsibly? We are crystal clear with every client that mild HBOT is a wellness service, not a medical treatment. We don’t make disease claims, and we always recommend clients discuss with their physician if they have active medical conditions. My job is to provide the best possible complementary care, not to position anything as a substitute for medicine.

Float Cabin for Couples
HOST
ALEX
“
Float therapy on its own is still something many people find intimidating. A float cabin designed for two is an even rarer offering. Tell us about your couples float experience.
GAYLE
Our couples float cabin is one of my absolute favorite offerings at Ohm — it’s unique in this region. The cabin itself is a large, custom-built enclosure containing a shallow pool of body-temperature water saturated with about 1,000 pounds of pharmaceutical-grade Epsom salt. That saturation makes you completely effortless — you float without effort, your muscles release entirely, and your nervous system enters a state of profound stillness. For couples, sharing that experience together creates an intimacy and a shared calm that you simply cannot manufacture through conventional date activities. It’s deeply bonding.
HOST
ALEX
“
One partner is excited, the other is nervous about enclosed spaces. How do you handle that dynamic, and is there truly enough room not to feel claustrophobic?
GAYLE
This comes up so often, and I love addressing it because the answer genuinely surprises people. Our couples cabin is spacious — significantly larger than a single pod, which is itself not particularly small. It has a high ceiling, full lighting controls including the option to leave lights on completely, music controls, and the door is never locked and opens easily from the inside at any time. For the nervous partner, we do a thorough orientation before the session and we always recommend they start with the light on and gradually dim it if they feel comfortable. Most people who arrive certain they’ll panic end up being the ones who want more time.
HOST
ALEX
“
Beyond romance, what are the actual physiological and psychological benefits of floating, and why might couples especially benefit from experiencing it together?
GAYLE
Floating produces a measurable reduction in cortisol — the stress hormone — and an increase in dopamine and endorphins. EEG studies have shown that the brain shifts into theta wave states, which are the same states associated with deep meditation, creative insight, and REM sleep. Magnesium from the Epsom salt is absorbed transdermally throughout the session, supporting muscle recovery and nervous system regulation. For couples specifically — many couples in modern life are chronically co-stressed. They’re both running at high cortisol simultaneously. Sharing a float brings two nervous systems into a synchronized state of calm, which research in co-regulation suggests has powerful bonding and relational benefits. Couples tell us they communicate differently — more openly, more gently — after a float session.
GIFT GUIDE
Gift Cards — For a Wife
HOST
ALEX
“
Let’s talk gift cards — because I know from experience that “what do I get her?” is one of the most searched questions on the internet year-round. If a husband is listening right now, what should he know about giving his wife an Ohm gift card?
GAYLE
First — you cannot go wrong. I genuinely believe that. A gift card to Ohm says: I see how hard you work, I know you give everything to everyone around you, and I want you to have something entirely for yourself. That message lands deeply for most women, especially wives and mothers who spend their days in service to others. Our gift cards are redeemable for any service in the spa — massage, facials, body contouring, float, HBOT — so she gets to choose what her body and spirit need most. That autonomy is part of the gift.
HOST
ALEX
“
What amount would you recommend for a husband looking to make a genuinely meaningful gift — not just a token gesture?
GAYLE
Our massages are $120 and our facials are $175 — so a single service gift card is a complete, meaningful experience on its own. If you want to give her the freedom to combine two services and spend a real afternoon here, $250 to $295 does that beautifully. And if you want to go all-in — body contouring sessions range from $350 to $550 depending on the treatment, so pairing one of those with a massage or facial makes for a truly transformative day. We also offer bundled packages if you’d prefer a curated experience rather than an open-dollar card.
HOST
ALEX
“
Can a gift card be personalized or presented in a special way when purchased at Ohm?
GAYLE
Absolutely. When you purchase in person or call us, we can create a beautifully presented card with a personal message included. We present it in branded packaging that makes clear this isn’t a last-minute gas station gift — it’s a considered, intentional gift of wellness. I always encourage partners to add a little note about why they’re giving it — something specific and personal. That context turns a gift card into a love letter.
GIFT GUIDE
Gift Cards — Christmas
HOST
ALEX
“
Christmas is the gift-giving Olympics. For someone who wants to give something that stands out under the tree this year, why does an Ohm gift card beat another sweater or gadget?
GAYLE
Because the holiday season is, ironically, one of the most physically and emotionally depleting times of year. By Christmas Day, most people are exhausted — over-socialized, over-indulged, financially stressed, physically tight from cold weather and holiday travel. A gift card to Ohm says: “The holidays are over. Now it’s your turn.” There’s something beautiful about a gift that isn’t opened on Christmas Day but redeemed in January when they genuinely need restoration. It becomes a light at the end of the holiday tunnel.
HOST
ALEX
“
Is there a Christmas bundle or holiday-specific offering at Ohm that makes the gift feel more festive and special?
GAYLE
During the holiday season we do curate special packages — things like “The Winter Restore,” which might combine a Himalayan Hot Stone Massage with an add-on facial and a float session, packaged at a holiday rate. We present these in a gift box with a ribbon and a handwritten menu of what’s included. It’s genuinely one of the most well-received gifts in our community — we hear from the recipients for years. The key message I give to gift-givers: don’t wait until December 23rd. Our holiday packages sell out, and the experience is better when it’s thoughtfully booked.
HOST
ALEX
“
What’s the price range for Christmas gift cards, and is there an option that works even on a more modest budget?
GAYLE
Our services start at $120 for a massage and $175 for a facial — so even a single-service gift card is a complete, meaningful experience. For someone who wants to cover two services, the $295 range works well. Gift cards never expire, so even a smaller amount becomes meaningful because the recipient gets to choose when and how to use it. Wellness is not a luxury reserved for big budgets — I am deeply committed to that. Come in and talk to us; we’ll find something that works.
GIFT GUIDE
Gift Cards — Father’s Day
HOST
ALEX
“
Father’s Day is notoriously hard to shop for. Most dads say “I don’t need anything.” Why is an Ohm gift card the answer for Father’s Day?
GAYLE
Because “I don’t need anything” almost always translates to “I don’t prioritize myself.” Men, and fathers especially, are culturally conditioned to deprioritize their physical wellbeing until it becomes a crisis. The idea of a massage or a spa day feels indulgent, even foreign, to many dads. But when it’s given as a gift — when someone else says “your body matters, your recovery matters, your comfort matters” — the permission structure changes. Many of our male clients came in initially on a gift card from a spouse or a child, and now they’re regulars. We converted them by letting someone else initiate.
HOST
ALEX
“
What services at Ohm tend to resonate most with men, particularly dads who’ve never been to a wellness spa before?
GAYLE
The entry points that work best for first-timers are sports-focused or pain-focused — so if Dad has a bad back, a sore shoulder, or chronic tension from a physically demanding job or years of athletics, framing the visit around cryotherapy for pain, SRT massage, or NKT makes it accessible. It’s not “pampering” — it’s performance recovery and pain management. Dads who are into fitness especially love our HBOT for recovery and our sports massage options. Float therapy is another gateway — the idea of absolute silence and weightlessness tends to appeal to men who are quietly running on empty.
HOST
ALEX
“
What if a family wants to do something together for Father’s Day — make it an experience rather than just a card? Are there options for that?
GAYLE
That’s one of my favorite approaches. We can accommodate a father-child booking — Dad gets a massage while a teen or adult child gets a facial, for example, and they connect afterward. Our couples float cabin also works beautifully for a husband and wife to book together as a Father’s Day treat for themselves as a couple. Wolfeboro is also a wonderful destination — people come up from the seacoast and the Concord area and make a day of it, enjoying the lake and the town alongside their spa visit. Father’s Day at Ohm can absolutely be a family event.

Gift Cards — Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is probably your busiest gifting season. What do you wish more families understood about giving a meaningful Mother’s Day wellness experience?
GAYLE
I wish more families understood that the gift of time to oneself is the rarest and most precious thing a mother can receive — and that an Ohm gift card is permission to take that time without guilt. Mothers are incredible at caring for everyone else and remarkably bad at caring for themselves. When the people she loves most say “we want you to go and be taken care of,” it unlocks something. The best calls I get in May are from women calling to book a Mother’s Day gift card they received — and they sound almost disbelieving, like they’re not sure they’re allowed to do this for themselves. They are. They absolutely are.

What would your ideal “Mother’s Day at Ohm” look like — if you were designing the perfect day for a mom?
GAYLE
Oh, I love this question. I’d design it in layers. She arrives, and we start with a 90-minute Lomi Lomi — because Lomi Lomi is pure nurturing, pure love on the table, and mothers deserve to be held. Then a PRX Dermperfection facial, because she gives her face to the world every single day and deserves to see herself glowing. Then — this is the crown jewel — an hour in the float cabin, completely alone, in silence, weightless. No one needs her. No one can reach her. She floats. When she comes out, she is a different person. That’s the day I’d build her.

What’s the booking lead time for Mother’s Day, and any advice for families who are purchasing gift cards close to the holiday?
GAYLE
We recommend purchasing gift cards at least three weeks before Mother’s Day if you want a specific experience packaged attractively. For actual appointment availability around the holiday — the last weekend before Mother’s Day fills up by mid-April. So please, please don’t wait. The gift card itself can be purchased at any time and presented on Mother’s Day, but helping Mom have a booking ready to go — or calling us to ask what’s available — makes the gift feel complete. Nothing is worse than a gift card that sits in a drawer because appointments were full. We want the experience to happen.
SERVICE SPOTLIGHT
Hair & Nail Salon
HOST ALEX: “Gayle, before we wrap up — I have to ask, because I don’t think we’ve touched on it — do you offer hair and nail services at Ohm as well?“
GAYLE: We do! And I love that you asked, because it’s something that surprises a lot of people. Ohm has a full hair and nail salon on-site. So you can come in for a massage, a facial, body contouring — and while you’re here, get your hair done and your nails taken care of. It really transforms the visit into a complete self-care day rather than a single appointment. We wanted Ohm to be the kind of place where you don’t need to run across town to check every box — it all happens under one roof, in one beautiful, intentional space.
HOST ALEX: “That’s a game changer for gifting, honestly. Does that mean a gift card covers salon services, too?“
GAYLE: Absolutely — our gift cards are valid across all services at Ohm, including hair and nails. So if someone is building a gift card for Mother’s Day or a birthday and wants to make sure Mom can get her hair styled and her nails done alongside a massage or facial, one gift card covers it all. That flexibility is really the point. We want the recipient to walk in and feel like the whole day is taken care of — because it is.
HOST ALEX:”For someone coming in for a big occasion — a wedding, an anniversary, a milestone birthday — can Ohm handle the full beauty and wellness experience from head to toe?“
GAYLE: That is exactly what we’re built for. A bride-to-be, for example, could come to Ohm and have her hair styled, her nails done, a HydraFacial or PRX treatment for her skin, a massage to calm her nervous system before the big day — and leave looking and feeling like the most radiant version of herself. Same for milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or simply a well-deserved day of total renewal. We love building those full-day experiences with clients. Call us, and we’ll curate it from start to finish.
“Gayle, this has been one of the most comprehensive and genuinely illuminating wellness conversations we’ve had on this show. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your heart, and the extraordinary work happening at Ohm.“
